YOU can have it all!

We have all sacrificed style so we can child proof our homes, but there are many ways and many products that allow us to take our style back! I have turned my entire living room into a conversation piece and I'm going to show you how you can do it too!!!

• First of all, let's talk about wall color and wall paint. I have learned through experience that whatever color you decide to go with ALWAYS opt for a eggshell or satin finish rather than flat or matte. These are impossible to scrub anything off, and you will most likely end up having to retouch paint constantly. I like eggshell best because it's easy to clean and I don't like high sheen. 
• Now, let's talk about furniture! EVERYONE told me that a white couch and a 2 year old is a BIG NO NO! But I really wanted a modern look and with my color scheme there was no other option for me. So I decided to buy a piece from Ikea with a removable and washable cover. Yes it has gotten dirty, but I have yet gotten a stain on there that I was unable to wash out. Removable seat covers are great because not only are they easy to clean, they are also easy to find in a variety of colors and you can always update living room instantly! 
• Next, let's talk about lighting. Most of us don't know how important lighting is. But imagine a room with just a regular light fixture, and now imagine a room with that light fixture and candle light highlighting specific areas in any room. There's nothing that sets the ambiance better in the room than great lighting. A great way to get the effect of candle light without the flame is battery operated candles! They are very affordable and efficient. I bought some at WALMART for about 3.00 a piece. Best part is they are also scented! I use real candles for sconces on walls that are out of reach and flameless candles for the decor within reach. When it comes to lamps, I highly recommend opting for a floor lamp rather than a table lamp. They are chic, very affordable, and they are not easy to knock over like table lamps are. They also come in an endless variety of color and sizes! So, next time you feel like you need to update your living space just remember "You can have it all!"
